I speak Cantonese, Mandarin, English, and I am now learning Spanish (I am not too great at it...)
I have also been to many places, including US of course, Mainland China, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Australia...
This week our whole group read the first 3 chapters and part of chapter 13 of Jean-Francois Rischard book's High Noon .
I read the section "Global Infectious Diseases" in chapter 13 (p. 104-107).
It is about how diseases like AIDs, malaria, tuberculosis, pneumonia is spreading very quickly in the developing world.
AIDS spread especially fast in Africa. 15,000 ppl get infected each day!
I think that ppl that are sick should isolate themselves if it is a disease that spread easily--with contact.
They should stay at home or wear masks.
(I was in Hong Kong when SARS was there.
There was this period of time when everyone weared a mask
The joined effort can really help stop the disease from spreading quickly.)
I also think that richer people should donate more money to organizations that help cure poorer, sick people in developing countries.
I shared these thoughts with my group and learned about other sessions of the book. We learned more about each other and some amazing facts ("Wow! So many people are ...") from our discussions.
